Knife Skills

Saturday, Sept. 26th 2026, 1:30-3:30 pm
2-hour class

Master the fundamentals every cook needs: knife grip, safety, and the essential cuts that build speed, consistency, and confidence in the kitchen.

Limited to 12 participants to allow for individual instruction and hands-on guidance.

You’ll work with a variety of vegetables and take your prepared vegetables home with you, along with a simple recipe to turn your knife skills practice into dinner.

Halloween in Rochester- Food, History & Mt. Hope Cemetery

Inspired by Rochester’s own Mt. Hope Cemetery, this class explores the people buried there whose lives connect to the city’s food history. From fish farming and wurstel to brewing and other local traditions, we’ll follow their stories back to the table.

Expect good food, unexpected history, and a spooky look at some familiar Rochester names.

Taste each dish along the way, then leave with recipes, techniques, and stories worth retelling.

Election Week: Susan B. Anthony and Suffrage-Era Cooking

Celebrate Rochester’s own Susan B. Anthony this election season with food, history, and stories from her remarkable life. This demonstration brings food history to the table with plenty of cooking, stories from her time, and dishes inspired by foods she knew and enjoyed.

This class draws on historical materials, period recipes, and some of Susan B. Anthony’s own favorite foods.

On the menu: Rebel Soup, Chicken Croquettes with Homemade Macaroni, and the Lady’s favorite Sponge Cake.
